Event Description

John Surowiecki is the author of three books of poetry, Barney and Gienka (CW Books,  2010), The Hat City after Men Stopped Wearing Hats (Word Works, 2007, Washington Prize)) and Watching Cartoons before Attending a Funeral (White Pine Press, 2003, White Pine Prize), as well as five chapbooks. 

A sixth chapbook, Mr. Z., Mrs. Z., J.Z., S.Z., has been recently released by Ugly Duckling Presse.

John’s poems will also appear in the forthcoming Hecht Prize Anthology (Waywiser Press) and the Sunken Garden Anthology (Wesleyan Press).

In recent years, he has won the Poetry Foundation Pegasus Award for verse drama, the Nimrod Pablo Neruda Prize and took the silver in the Sunken Garden National Competition. Publications include: Alaska Quarterly Review, Folio, Cider Press Review, Gargoyle, Margie, Oyez Review, Mississippi Review, Poetry, Prairie Schooner, Redivider, West Branch and Wisconsin Review.
