Had a wonderful time on Saturday night. It is feels good to be apart of this show. Can't wait to bring some more friends down to see the work and introduce them to the gallery.
I told my son Levi about your photos of August Wilson...he was incredibly intrigued. He is a 17 year old budding playwright! I need to get him over to Hygienic!
See you! Rosemary
Vinnie, thanks for thinking of me for the Halloween bash, but I just can't do anything extra right now. I'm commuting to Boston so when I'm home all I do is crash. But I'll try to make it to the party!
Vinnie - couple of thoughts following this morning's meeting. Would it be worthwhile starting a group on the web site for the planning committee so that comments would automatically be distributed to everyone?
One thought for either a raffle item, or possibly as prize for the best costume would be a work of art created at the bash by the attendees. We could set up a canvas or a board, possibly have some artists from the hygienic put a little on it to get it started, and then have a limited number of supplies (pencils, crayons, paints - maybe too messy) and leave it up for people to add to during the night.
Part of my thinking about creating a piece of art that night is to try to get away from the typical non-profit fundraiser that pretty much says, "We do good things. Please support us." Instead, it would be nice to say, "We're a community of good people who do interesting things and good work. Come be a part of our community, party with us, and be part of what we're all supporting."
Hi Vinnie, Good to hear from you. Currently I'm in Maine with my mom, but I just got back from Austin, TX. where I was working as a fundraiser. Still doing art and still looking for great non-profit art organizations to work for in New York (where I will be moving soon). This website is really hip. It's a great way to connect with folks. I may be down for Conn. Coll. graduation I'll look out for you. Hope all is well, tell Stidfole I said hi as well. peace
